There are various ice melts on the market. Finding which one to use on your porcelain tile can help protect and prolong the lifespan. Please always test these products on a side area of your project first or on a spare tile. We do not take responsibility for damages caused to the tile that may be caused by incorrect product selection or application.

• Acetate: Acetates are available in three varieties. These include potassium acetate, calcium magnesium acetate, and sodium acetate. When compared to a chloride-based ice melt, acetate is entirely natural. Likewise, it breaks down in the atmosphere. It may be an expensive option. This ice melt does not work at very low temperatures but thrives at a temperature above 20F/-6.7C.
• Sodium Chloride or Rock Salt: This kind of de-icer is the most popular and economical option. It works well at temperatures above 15F/-9.4C. However, it can damage your flooring if you do not remove the salt residue or are adequately protected. Hiring a professional is recommended when using rock salt. This can help prevent costly repairs or permanent damage to your tile
• Potassium Chloride: Potassium chloride can be purchased as a fertilizer. The mild de-icer only works at 25F/-3.9C temperatures and above. This kind is not quite as effective as the others. Most people use it for getting rid of snow and ice, because the impact on the environment is low. Also, it is more forgiving on stone surfaces and is biodegradable.
• Magnesium Chloride: The lower toxicity of magnesium chloride makes it a bit more acceptable for hard surfaces. It can melt snow and ice at temperatures as low as 0F. So, despite the cost, it's gaining in popularity. It can be purchased in liquid, pellet, or flake form. 
• Calcium Chloride: The ice melt is available in liquid, flake, and pellet forms. Calcium chloride is quite expensive, and its toxicity level is the highest. It creates a lot of mess if you track it inside your home. Hence, it is not the best choice for your porcelain floors. Like the de-icers above, it will not work at very low temperatures but works well at 20F/-6.7C and higher.

Outdoor porcelain tiles do not need sealing. These tiles present a wide array of benefits. On top of that list is being imporous or low porosity. Like ceramic, porcelain paving is fired in a kiln. However, it is fired at a considerably higher temperature, making it exceptionally dense. As the porcelain vitrifies, it becomes incredibly tough with very low porosity.

The imporous characteristic of outdoor porcelain means moisture will not be able to penetrate it easily. Moreover, this quality also allows the tile to be slip, fade, and stain resistant. Thanks to technological advancements, porcelain's aesthetics, durability, and quality, has gone through drastic improvement. Modern processes have made sealing on virtually every porcelain tile out there unnecessary. Almost all outdoor porcelain available today are glazed, meaning their porosity rate is less than 0.5% and do not need to be sealed.

• Determine turf size: Turf is sold ONLY in 15 foot widths by desired length - up to a full roll.
• Infill sand: Use 1 pound to 1.5 pounds per square foot. Use Zeolite for projects with animals, parks, kids or daycare.
• Nails: Use a 10" spike every foot on high traffic areas. Use a 10" spike every 2 feet where fences, walls, houses, or sheds are located.
• Seaming tape: If you need to joint up two pieces of synthetic grass we highly recommend the purchase of seam tape. Rolls are 328 linear feet or you can purchase by the foot in store.
• Turf adhesive: Used to adhere seam tape to grass. Sold in two sizes: 1 gallon covers 55-60 square feet, 5 gallons cover 300 square feet.
